In Their Own Words - Rare toy article for TFSource

Hi all,

After the good reception I received for the collectors' partner interviews a couple of weeks ago, I decided to make further use of the community this week for TFSource blog's weekly articles. I've asked a number of long-time and prominent collectors in their field to offer up one rare/obscure/surprising toy from their areas of interest and talk a little about it. The hope is that these knowledgeable collectors will highlight to the wider community some of the more unknown difficult toys from various sub-categories of TF collecting.

The first part in the series concentrates more on production Transformers from various countries, and I would like to thank Mijo, Jon Krause, Martin Lund, Heroic Decepticon, HighPrime and Marco Salerno for their fantastic contributions and for sharing their passion and knowledge.

Well these things are only special as long as there is someone to make them special and look for them and want them. As soon as the few MB collectors find it, and others will ignore it...is it still special?

Thank you Lionel, that is being sold by an Italian collector called Ivan. Just a little too expensive for me

Just to know. Did you see one day a red headed Slag, what do you know about him ? I'm asking because this auction is the first I've ever seen, even if I've been knowing him for 27 years, for I saw it on catalogs. If you could use your knowledge for us, thank you.

Hi Lionel,

The red-faced Slag is quite a common variant but still very popular. It was released only in Canada with a red face, red launcher and white legs. There is also a later variation with black legs.

There is also a Italian GiG version of the Diaclone Slag "Triceratops" with red face and white legs too, with chrome horns and another with red horns. Quite rare this one.
